Non-steroidal antirheumatics

Non-steroidal antirheumatics (NSAR) are anti-inflammatory pain medications which can be taken together with a triptan to increase its effects but especially to increase its duration.

Because of their long half-life period, they can sometimes prevent the return of the headache. Naproxen has proven to be especially successful in migraine therapy. It can be taken in a dose of up to 500 mg together with a triptan if the effect of the triptan doesn’t seem to be sufficient.
