Hemiplegic migraine

Hemiplegic migraine is a special form of migraine with aura and is accompanied by a hemiparalysis. This form of the migraine is inherited thus the name “family hemiplegic migraine”. A genetic defect is seen as the cause.

The sporadic hemiplegic migraine is missing the hereditary component, also, probably the genetic defect as well. The symptoms of both forms of this migraine are same.
